In autumn of 2024, the Bundeshaus (Parliament Building) will be transformed into a gigantic screen for the 14th year in a row. Rendez-vous Bundesplatz is a 30-minute light and sound spectacle. It is shown three times a day, at 7 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., every day of the week and is free of charge.

Volare

Karlsson-on-the-Roof and Nils Holgersson – the two beloved Swedish children’s books characters both dreamt of flying. For us humans, flying has always had something magical about it: the feeling of infinite space, when things that usually seem big suddenly become very small and entire landscapes pass by in a blur. This year’s edition of Rendez-vous Bundesplatz, aptly named «Volare», plays on this fascination and delves into the world of birds in Switzerland. 

The Swiss Ornithological Institute in Sempach is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, making it the perfect partner for the event. Visit their website to discover interesting facts and figures about Switzerland’s numerous bird species. 

Getting there

The best way to get to Bundesplatz is by public transport. All tram lines run from Bern railway station to the stop «Bärenplatz», from which Bundesplatz is just a wing beat away. Alternatively, the city of Bern has plenty of parking facilities for visitors travelling by car.
