The photo shows a cycling event in which people of different age groups ride bicycles through an inflatable gate labelled "HELLO VELO!".

Hallo Velo!

On 8 September, the federal city lives up to its reputation as the cycling capital: that's when the seventh Bern Bike Festival takes place. The perfect opportunity to really celebrate our favourite means of transport!

TOP-EVENT

For one Sunday of the Bern Bike Festival, the Bundesplatz and Münsterplatz squares belong entirely to two-wheelers and those who ride them. In addition to all kinds of activities - such as the pump track or kids' course - and bike-related attractions, there will of course also be something tasty to eat and drink. The traffic-free City Loop ensures a carefree journey between the two squares; the only motorised vehicles allowed through here during the event are e-bikes.

What did you say? You don’t have a themed t-shirt at home? No problem. There is a booth on the Bärenplatz, operated by Bern Welcome and Lino from druckvelo.ch, where you can watch as your new favourite cycling piece is being printed on-site – by a bicycle with a built-in printer. You can choose between different colours and modern designs to create a real eye-catcher that would even make a style icon like Nemo jealous. And the best thing? Waiting for your new favourite piece does not have to be boring: our professionals from Bern Welcome will happily answer all your questions about cycling in Bern.

A clear highlight of the programme: the bike parade. The big parade starts punctually at 1.30 pm at Bundesplatz. The participants cycle over 6.5 kilometres on their vehicles – from vintage wire donkeys to mountain bikes and sleek cargo bikes - on a fixed route through Bern.

So: get on the saddle, put on your helmet and let's go! Here is the programme.
