The Kemmeriboden circular trail is an easy snowshoeing tour that starts and finishes at the renowned Kemmeribodenbad Hotel. Along the first leg of the trail, the route immediately climbs some 120 metres in elevation up to the area known as Kemmeri. In fresh new snow and with no tracks groomed in advance, this can be quite a challenge, physically. However, once we get above Unterkemmeri, we are rewarded with great views.
The descent that follows, down through powder snow to the Emme river at Schwand is nothing but fun. From Schwand we mostly follow the summer hiking trail back to the Kemmeribodenbad Hotel. A stop at this unique inn that serves the legendary Merängge is simply a must.
