Useful information
- Emmental
Nearly 500 years old, the Chüechlihus is one of the region's oldest buildings. It served various purposes throughout its history. Its name, however, is derived from the coffee shop that was once located on the ground floor, where various pastries ("Chüechli") were served.
Today, the regional museum offers young and old alike exciting insights into the cultural heritage of the Emmental, from the Alpine cheese dairy to the "SCL Tigers" ice hockey club. There is a special atmosphere in the oldest, largely original wooden building in the region. The past and present of the Emmental are brought to life - from the everyday life of the inhabitants, encounters with important personalities from the region to local crafts and trades. One of the largest and most important collections of Langnau ceramics as well as white cooperage and Flüehli glass complete the programme.
The museum comprises a permanent exhibition with 25 rooms, a temporary exhibition on current topics, a museum shop and a self-service café. The small courtyard with its cottage garden, the large arbour and the museum foyer invite visitors to linger and offer space for aperitifs or concerts. There are also special programmes for children and young people.
